Inua Advocacy
Also known as Inua, Inua Consulting
A refugee-rights organisation founded by Innocent Magambi that works on legal assistance, policy reform, accountability, emergency support, and public understanding of refugee life in Malawi.

Formation
Inua Advocacy was founded in 2021 by refugee advocate and author Innocent Magambi. The organisation was previously known as Inua Consulting. It developed after Magambi’s fifteen years leading There Is Hope, with a more direct focus on refugee rights, legal systems, public policy, and accountability.
Legal and protection work
Inua provides or facilitates legal assistance for refugees who face detention, violence, family and protection cases, documentation problems, and other barriers to justice. It also monitors issues including human trafficking and the conduct of institutions responsible for refugee protection.
The organisation reported that during its first four years it offered legal aid connected to the release of more than 1,200 refugees and supported vulnerable households with emergency food or financial assistance. These are figures published by Inua and should be read as the organisation’s own impact reporting.
Policy advocacy
Inua advocates for reform of Malawi’s refugee law and policy, including restrictions on movement, work, business ownership, and public education. It has submitted policy recommendations and participated in discussions around review of the Refugees Act.
Public information
In December 2024, Inua published the Malawi Refugee Guide. The guide explains the history and legal framework of displacement in Malawi, life at Dzaleka, stakeholder roles, and common misconceptions. It is a useful community-informed source when read alongside legislation and UN records.
