1. Introduction to Open Data

At Dzaleka Online Services, we believe that publicly available data should be exactly that: public. To empower researchers, software developers, and community advocates, we have adopted an Open Data License for designated public datasets and API endpoints.

2. Your Rights (The License)

Unless explicitly stated otherwise on a specific dataset or file, the public data provided by Dzaleka Online Services is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license or the Open Data Commons Attribution License (ODC-BY). This means you are free to:

  • Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
  • Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.

3. Your Obligations (Attribution)

The freedom to use and adapt our data comes with one primary requirement: Attribution. We ask that you:

  • Give appropriate credit to "Dzaleka Online Services".
  • Provide a direct link to the license and the original dataset source.
  • Indicate clearly if you made any changes or modifications to the original data.
  • Do not suggest in any way that Dzaleka Online Services endorses you or your specific use of the data.

4. Exceptions & Privacy Protections

Please note that "Open Data" does not apply to personal information. Our Privacy Policy sets strict boundaries on data sharing. The Open Data License only applies to explicitly marked, anonymized, and aggregated statistical data, or public directory information that users have explicitly consented to make public.

5. Encouraging Reuse

We actively encourage hackathons, academic researchers, and digital humanitarians to utilize our data to find solutions for the Dzaleka community. By opening our data, we aim to eliminate silos and foster an ecosystem of transparency and innovation.
