Salama Africa
Toussaint Farini Buunda is a Congolese community organiser associated with Salama Africa, a youth organisation established in Dzaleka in 2014. In an oral-history profile, Farini described starting the organisation with Fred Farini and Alain Tenta as a platform for young artists.
Salama Africa developed activities in dance, music, visual art, and tailoring. Jesuit Refugee Service reported on its youth arts work in 2017, while a 2023 profile by Imagine Worldwide identified Farini as the organisation’s director.
Education programmes
In 2023, Salama Africa partnered with Imagine Worldwide to offer tablet-based literacy and numeracy lessons for children waiting for places in formal schools. Imagine Worldwide reported that the programme was designed for 1,000 learners using 200 tablets.
