About Inua Advocacy
Inua Advocacy is a Malawian civil society organization dedicated to defending and promoting the rights and dignity of refugees. Founded by Innocent Magambi, a former refugee, the organization works to empower displaced persons through legal aid, policy advocacy, and community engagement. Inua Advocacy is actively involved in efforts to amend Malawi’s 1989 Refugee Act, advocating for reforms that promote self-reliance and integration of refugees into society.
Key Services:
- Legal Aid: Providing legal assistance to refugees facing discrimination and injustice.
- Policy Advocacy: Lobbying for the amendment of the 1989 Refugee Act to support refugee rights and integration.
- Community Empowerment: Supporting emerging refugee leaders and fostering community-based solutions.

- Research & Documentation: Conducting research on refugee issues and sharing refugee stories to raise awareness.
Recent Milestones:
- Granted Observer Status by the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) in 2024.
- Advocated for post-relocation support for refugees in Malawi.
