Tumaini Festival Cancelled for 2026
Tumaini Festival will not take place in 2026 due to funding challenges, with organisers planning a return to Dzaleka in 2027.

Tumaini Festival will not take place in 2026 due to funding challenges, organisers have announced.
The free festival, which has been held in Dzaleka since 2014, relies on donations, grants and support from partners. Organisers said the current funding environment has made it difficult to stage the festival at the scale expected.
Tumaini has become an important event for Dzaleka, providing opportunities for local businesses and artists while bringing visitors from across Malawi and beyond.
Organisers said the festival is not ending and efforts are underway to secure funding for its return in 2027.
Smaller community events are planned in Dzaleka in October and November as organisers use the break to reflect and prepare for the festival’s next chapter.
After 11 editions, Tumaini Festival is expected to return in 2027.
