Introducing Dzaleka Site Register & Public Art and Visual Culture

At Dzaleka Online Services, we are introducing two new projects: the Dzaleka Site Register and the Dzaleka Public Art and Visual Culture Archive.

Dzaleka Site Register

The Site Register is a new catalogue of important places across Dzaleka Refugee Camp. It will feature schools, community spaces, cultural landmarks, and everyday locations that shape life here. Over time, it will grow into a record of how Dzaleka has developed and continues to change.

This register will serve as a living document of the camp’s infrastructure and community spaces, helping visitors, researchers, and community members understand the physical and social landscape of Dzaleka.

Dzaleka Public Art and Visual Culture

Creative expression has always been part of Dzaleka’s story. Murals, sculptures, and performances reflect identity, resilience, and hope. The Public Art and Visual Culture Archive highlights and preserves these works so they can be recognised and shared widely.

From street art to community murals, from traditional crafts to contemporary installations, this archive will celebrate the diverse creative expressions that make Dzaleka a vibrant cultural community.

A Call for Contributions

Both projects are just beginning, and the catalogues are still small. We welcome submissions from anyone who would like to contribute — whether suggesting a site for the register, or sharing images and stories of public art. Every contribution helps build a fuller picture of Dzaleka’s spaces and creative life.

How to Contribute

  • For the Site Register: Submit a site or share information about important locations, community spaces, or landmarks in Dzaleka
  • For the Public Art Archive: Submit artwork or share photos, videos, or stories about murals, sculptures, performances, or other creative works
  • Contact us: Reach out through our contact form or social media channels to share your contributions

Building Community Heritage

Together, these initiatives are about more than keeping records — they are about making Dzaleka’s history and creativity visible. They represent our commitment to preserving and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of our community.

We believe that by documenting these spaces and creative expressions, we can help future generations understand the resilience, creativity, and community spirit that defines life in Dzaleka Refugee Camp.

Stay tuned for updates as these projects develop and grow with community input and participation. Follow our news section for the latest developments and community stories.
