Divine Yusuf grew up in Dzaleka. Jesuit Refugee Service profiled her in February 2021 as a nursing and midwifery student at Mzuzu University and a recipient of its Naweza scholarship.

Before university, Yusuf attended school in and beyond Dzaleka despite interruptions to her education. The JRS profile records the role of family support, teachers, and the scholarship programme in allowing her to continue.

Naweza scholarship

Naweza was designed to improve refugee girls’ access to education, safety, and well-being. During COVID-19 disruptions, JRS reported that the programme provided tertiary students with laptops and connectivity support for remote learning.

Yusuf used her public profile to encourage other girls to pursue science and education. This entry describes her studies as reported in 2021 and does not claim a current professional role.
