Salama Africa & Artolution Community Mural

Overview

In June 2026, Salama Africa and Artolution completed a landmark collaborative community mural at Dzaleka Refugee Camp, created with support from HOME Storytellers.

The mural was created through Artolution’s Training of Trainers programme hosted at Salama Africa’s youth center in the Katudza Sector. According to Salama Africa Executive Director Prince Lokendo, the artwork was directly shaped by community discussions, reflecting themes of hope, protection, unity, and solidarity.

Artistic Process & Community Collaboration

Trainers, programme participants, and residents living in Dzaleka worked together side-by-side to translate shared experiences into a vibrant visual narrative on the compound wall.

By engaging community members throughout the design and painting process, the initiative empowered local youth to lead artistic storytelling efforts in Dzaleka, turning public walls into platforms for collective expression and cultural healing.
