About the Artist

Paul Kabobya is the father of six children. He fled his country of origin, the Democratic Republic of Congo, in December of 2014 due to war and came to seek asylum in Malawi.

Artistic Journey

He currently lives with his family in the Dzaleka refugee camp where he makes and sells his art. However, there are challenges he faces. The profit he gets is very little, due to having only a few customers.

Dzaleka Art Project

Paul is one of the visual artists participating in the Dzaleka Art Project, which supports and promotes artistic expression within the refugee camp community.

Artistic Community

As a member of this vibrant artistic community, Paul contributes to the rich cultural landscape of Dzaleka through visual arts and creative expression, while supporting his family of six children.
