About the Artist
Kabarinda left his country in 2017 due to ethnic insecurity, which put his life in danger. He currently lives alone in Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi where he came to seek refuge.
Artistic Journey
He never did art in school but had a burning interest in it, and therefore decided to attend several training sessions from a number of artists. He now does drawings, murals, and decorations for a living.
Challenges
However, he has difficulty finding adequate materials to do his work. Prices are very low on the camp market which significantly minimizes the profit.
Dzaleka Art Project
Ernest is one of the visual artists participating in the Dzaleka Art Project, which supports and promotes artistic expression within the refugee camp community.
Artistic Community
As a member of this vibrant artistic community, Ernest contributes to the rich cultural landscape of Dzaleka through drawings, murals, and decorations, despite the challenges of limited resources.
