Announcing the launch of the new Dzaleka Wellbeing Hub

Today, Dzaleka Online Services is launching a completely redesigned Dzaleka Wellbeing platform for the community.

Mental health in Dzaleka Refugee Camp is a structural crisis. However, our previous wellbeing page functioned mostly as a summary of academic research. Following community feedback, we recognized that while documenting the crisis is important, what residents in distress actually need are immediate, accessible pathways to support.

The new Dzaleka Wellbeing Hub is now live. We have restructured the platform from the ground up to prioritize practical utility and crisis intervention over academic extraction.

What is new?

1. Direct crisis routing

For individuals experiencing severe distress or thoughts of self-harm, the top of every wellbeing page now features a persistent banner routing directly to the Get help now directory. This ensures people can find the fastest pathway to in-person intervention without having to read through long articles or statistics.

2. Separation of research and support

To make the main platform easier to navigate, we have moved the heavy reporting and background data into three newly established sub-pages:

  • The Research: A plain-language breakdown of the 2022 Psychiatry Research study. It explains the methodology, context for the 78% “probable depression” finding, and study limitations.
  • Structural Causes: This section connects the camp’s mental health metrics directly to the environment—specifically the encampment policy, the massive overcrowding, and the impacts of recent funding cuts.
  • Supporting Someone: A practical framework for uncredentialed caregivers—parents, teachers, and neighbors. It provides guidance on recognizing warning signs, what to say, and how to refer individuals to organizations like JRS.

3. Accuracy and accountability

In a camp environment, critical information like service provider hours can change rapidly. To maintain the integrity of the new hub, we have implemented an active feedback loop. Every page now includes a direct link allowing residents and operational partners to report outdated information or suggest corrections, ensuring the community resources remain reliable.

Explore the new hub

By ensuring our digital infrastructure treats mental health with dignity and clarity, we aim to reduce the friction between the community and the services available to them.

The new Dzaleka Wellbeing hub is active now. We encourage community leaders, protection staff, and partner organizations to explore the resources, share them with those in need, and help us ensure they stay accurate.
