HOME Storytellers presents an exclusive sneak peek of We Name Ourselves – a powerful documentary that follows teenagers in Dzaleka Refugee Camp who turn to spoken word poetry to navigate a world with the odds stacked against them.
About this event
Amidst the challenges of daily life, a group of teenagers in Dzaleka turn to spoken word poetry to navigate their world. Their hopeful voices echo through the relentless monotony, expressing universal human emotions and questions.
The event will include:
- A first look at select scenes from the film
- Details on the change they hope to bring to Dzaleka and their plans to achieve it
- An update on current challenges
- A discussion about hope and resilience in refugee communities
The screening will be followed by a live discussion with the filmmaking team and community members featured in the documentary.
