Amisi Hassan Jospin

Overview

Amisi Hassan Jospin (also known as Jospin Amisi Hassan) is a Congolese refugee software engineer, artificial intelligence researcher, and educator based in Malawi. He is an AI researcher at Rexplore Research Labs, an MIT Emerging Talent fellow, and co-founded ADAI Circle on 2 February 2020 alongside Byamasu Patrick Paul.

Technical Contributions & Research

1. Research at Rexplore Research Labs

At Rexplore Research Labs, Jospin contributes to machine learning models, dataset curation, and natural language processing (NLP) focusing on low-resource African languages. His open-source machine learning contributions on Hugging Face and GitHub support reinforcement learning and voice AI architectures built for African contexts.

2. MIT Emerging Talent & Academic Fellowships

Jospin completed the MIT Emerging Talent programme, using his platform to connect Dzaleka youth with global AI education:

• MIT RAISE Partnership: Co-designed and piloted the Responsible AI for Social Empowerment and Education (RAICA) curriculum inside Dzaleka, teaching students natural language processing and chatbot architecture.
• MIT Bootcamps: Adapted rapid prototyping and hackathon methodologies for ADAI Circle students.

3. Internet Society (ISOC) Certifications

Jospin has engaged with the Internet Society (ISOC), completing certifications in technical internet governance and digital security, including coursework on encryption threats and open internet advocacy.

Community Leadership

Through ADAI Circle and Rexplore Research Labs, Amisi Hassan Jospin has helped cultivate a culture of advanced software development and artificial intelligence research among displaced youth in Malawi.
